Papyrus increased market opportunities for smallholder farmers to sell their fruits and vegetables profitably by increasing the efficiency of market transactions and information flow. This project showed that reducing market barriers for Haitian farmers with the potential to meet part of this market demand currently satisfied through imports is feasible and that the requisite market players and the will to cooperate are present.
As a result, the World Bank Group has since begun harnessing potential investments with some of the market chain actors discovered during this successful pilot.
